A few other places you can take the kids to get wet, that didn’t quite make the list (because they aren’t open to the general public, or there is a fee required):
* Ladera Ranch: Boreal Plunge, Canterra Plunge, Celestial Plunge, Cherry Plunge, Creighton Plunge, Township Plunge, Terramor Aquatic Park. Move to Ladera Ranch, or at least make friends with someone who lives there, because all of these “plunges” require Ladera Ranch key card access.
* Slyders Water Playground: Huntington Beach Hyatt, $35 for adults, $20 for children ages 2-12
* Soak City: Buena Park, $25.99 for ages 12 & up, $19.99 for 3-11
* Splash!: La Mirada. $17 for general admission, $12 for kids (under 48″)
* Wild Rivers: Irvine. $32.98 for general admission, $19.98 for kids (under 48″)
* Disney’s California Adventure: water features & pop-up fountains outside “a bug’s land.”

Disney will have a new pop up fountain on the viewing area for The Wonderful World of Color. We saw it on Sunday, but it wasn’t running, I guess it will open in a few weeks when the show does. Presumably it will shut off each evening at dusk as guests begin staking out their seats.
I’ve been waiting for this list for my whole life! (Um, or at least a long time. Okay, not THAT long!) Thank you! Long live the cheap!
There is also a small pop up fountain in RSM in front of the Baja Fresh and Daphne’s restaurants!
Angela – not recommended! Despite being in the lowest crime area in on South OC, thus safe as can be, it’s right off of the street, with dust and debris flying into it from passing cars. It’s near impossible for the maintenance crew to keep the fountain area clean, thus kids come out of there covered with a black muddy layer of street dirt.
turns gone this was pretty helpful. perchance it will help you too?

Disney’s California Adventure: water features & pop-up fountains outside “a bug’s land.” are now gone due to the new cars land
good point! This list was published long before the renovations at Disney California started!
We tried to visit the above listed ” Walnut Grove Park Water Features” but could’t locate them… there seemed to be some fountain at the entrance of the park, which wasn’t on and didn’t seem like it had been on recently. Not sure if that was the one.
