i heart oc

As you’ve already know, we {heart} OC in a big, pink, puffy heart kinda way. But we know we aren’t the only ones. So, once a week we’re asking our readers to tell us (& you) why they {heart} OC. Maybe it’s a specific attraction or restaurant. Perhaps is just the laid back way of life. Or, maybe it’s all about the Dole Whip on a hot, sunny day. Whatever it is, we want to know, & we figured we’d bring you along for the ride.

Meet Kyla. She’s an OC transplant that learned to bloom where she was planted when her OC native husband moved them back here 8 years ago. She went from a girl with no hometown to a girl that can’t imagine calling any place but the OC home. Now she blogs and crafts, and crafts and blogs, all while raising her two darling children (The Boy & The Girl) along side her college sweetie.

What do I {heart} about the OC? What DON’T I {heart} about the OC!?
I’m not an OC native. I spent most of my formative years in places like
Iowa, Kentucky and Utah. Don’t get me wrong, those are great
places to live, but they aren’t Orange County.
In the OC, you can have December birthday parties at a PARK!
Not inside.
AT A PARK!In the OC, you have rad events like OC Foodie Fest.
And you can win tickets – for FREE -
just for having cute kids :)
In the OC, you have AWESOME friends
that you can sleep outside with, in a parking lot
overnight, with no fear for your safety… just for free chicken.
Oh! and wear your favorite sweater in June!
In the OC, you have SUPER COOL places like THE GREAT PARK.
Where you can ice skate, ride a giant balloon and a carousel all FOR FREE!
In the OC, you can take swimming lessons
in FEBRUARY – OUTSIDE!
It’s awesome.
In the OC, you have Pretend City.
Where you can pretend to be a pig or a fireman or a rock star -
whatever your little heart desires.
In the OC, you’re only a stone’s throw from the awesome Skirball museum.
Where your little boy can live out his fantasy of being Noah,
and commanding every animal that ever lived.
In the OC, you have Little Corona Beach and Sprinkles.
Which just happens to be the perfect combination,
for a perfect day with friends. In the OC, you have yummy food trucks, like Longboards.
And because your hubby is an OC native, and he
grew up withawesome guys like Mike & Finau,
you just happen to be besties with the owners :)
(or at least believe you are – LOL)
In the OC, dreams come true and you get to create
memories at Disneyland . . . . . . just like you did when you were a kid.

Thanks Kyla! As an OC transplant myself, I have to agree – there’s no place quite like the OC! Read more about Kyla HERE, on her blog, or follow her on Twitter HERE.
