Orange County beaches are world-famous. But with miles of coastline & too many beaches to count – that’s no surprise. And while you probably already have a favorite beach, if you’re looking for something new, or feeling adventurous check out Chelsea’s favorite… 15th Street Beach In Newport Beach.
The first word I associate with “summer” is “BEACH!”
Having grown up in Orange County and “beachin’ it” every summer I’ve come to love our local beaches.
As a kid my family frequented the tide pools in Corona Del Mar, the Balboa pier, or Huntington Beach.
As a teenager the high school hang out was 56th street in Newport Beach.
Now that I’m a mom with three young kids – I definitely have an idea of what beach is the perfect spot for me!
15th Street Beach in Newport Beach
Since I often bring my 5, 3, and 1 year old to the beach by myself I want to go somewhere that is: SAFE and EASY! & 15th street in Newport Beach fits the bill, perfectly.
15th Street Parking:
There are about two dozen metered parking spots on 15th street.
The nice thing about these metered spots is that they accept credit cards! (No having to remember your roll of quarters!)
If the metered spots are full, there are more spots in a parking lot located across Balboa Blvd. Or, more metered spots can be found on Balboa Blvd (although these meters require quarters).
My advice is get there EARLY to get a good spot… we typically arrive at 9am!
15th Street Restrooms:
After you park, there are big restrooms are on your way to the shore. Those of you with potty-training kids, understand the importance of having a restroom nearby.
15th Street Convenience:
After you pass the restrooms, there are two showers conveniently located on the sidewalk.
Who doesn’t like showering the sand/salt water off, before getting to the car to head home?
& I absolutely LOVE that the long sidewalk goes practically the entire way to the shore. Have you ever tried pushing a jogging stroller, or pulling a wagon full of beach gear across sand? It’s not easy! & The sidewalk walk makes it so much easier!
15th Street Safety:
Also, the big waves at 15th street typically break pretty far out, so there is plenty of shallow water for the kids to play in, without having to worry about waves crashing on them!
15th Street Fun:
Although any beach can be super-fun, 15th street holds a special place in our hearts because we typically meet here with cousins and friends, and the kids always have a wonderful time!
It’s also fun for me, because the convenience and safety of 15th street help me relax, and have a great time too!
15th Street in Newport Beach
15th street is located off of Balboa Blvd in Newport Beach, between the Newport Pier and Balboa Pier.
