Mickey’s Halloween Party Giveaway

Mickey’s Halloween Party Giveaway

As you probably already know, the “villains” have taken over the Disneyland Resort for the month of October. They have transformed & “boo-tified” the parks for Halloween time at Disneyland.

Literally hundreds, if not thousands, of pumpkins decorate the park. Jack Skellington & his Nightmare Before Christmas crew are celebrating the holidays in their “usual” manner at the Haunted Mansion. & once again Space Mountain has become Ghost Galaxy.

& While this is definitely my most favorite time of year at the Disneyland Resort (we went twice last week, just to soak it all in) – the Halloween season isn’t official until we’ve attended Mickey’s Halloween Party.

Mickey’s Halloween Party is an “after-hours” party meaning it requires separate admission ticket & only takes place on select nights during October (October 2nd, 5th, 9th, 12th, 15th, 19th, 23rd, 26th, 29th & 31st 2012).

In addition to access to nearly all the Disneyland attractions, Mickey’s Halloween Party is is like no other Halloween party… dance parties, trick-or-treat stations galore, but my personal favorite is the Halloween Screams Fireworks show – it’s AHHHH-mazing!

Like knock-your-socks-off-open-mouth-gaping kind of amazing. & attending Mickey’s Halloween Party is the only way to see the show.

I was actually in Anaheim last week for a conference. I went into the parks a few times in the evenings after my classes (though I was bummed by the “off peak” hours since I could only spend ~2 hrs/day in the parks).

My wife flew in on Thursday so we could spend a day in the park on Friday. We had just taken the kids back in March so they were mostly okay with staying behind…plus it’s our anniversary, so we decided to make a fun getaway of it.

We found out that Friday October 2 was a Halloween Party night so DLR was closing early. After only brief debate, we decided to get tickets to the Party so we could stay in Disneyland later. We each brought some low key costumes (pirate for me and duchess for her) and had a ball wandering the park through the super fun Halloween themed decorations and activities.

Since the park was already decked out for Halloween, I wasn’t sure how much would change. I was delighted to see new lighting, fog machines and even changes to the standard music.

We went through one of the “Treat Trails” just to experience it, but we weren’t as keen on the candy as we were on the fun activities.

There were still a lot of people, but the lines were generally much shorter than they had been such that we could do walk-ons for most of the big rides. I think our longest wait was 20 minutes for Space Mountain.

We caught the Halloween parade from a distance. We loved the Halloween Fireworks show. We popped out of Pirates just in time for the last ~half of the Cadaver Dans (?) singing along the Rivers of America.

Overall it was a lot of fun…even without kids. :)

  21. I like the halloween pumpkins. I must visit this land for sure.
